..Frequently Asked Questions

Q. When is it best to have my floor sanded, before or after the decorators/ builders have been in?

A. In an ideal world, the best time to have your floors sanded would be just before you painted your skirting boards, Although our machines get right up to the edge, they do not sand under the skirting, Also the skirting boards are the only part of your room that can get scuffed by our machines, but other than that, we should arrive once builders and or decorators have finished.

Q. Im thinking of having stain, what are the pro's and con's of staining your floor

A. Apart from the extra expense, the only real downside of having stain is that Skirting boards will need re-touching or cleaning off, We have tried masking around but this does not stop stain seeping through, Unfortunately we do have too stain right up to the edge, otherwise there will be unstained parts around skirtings and this can spoil the overall look.

REMEMBER SKIRTING WILL NEED RE-TOUCHING AFTER STAINING!

Q. How do i choose a colour and do colours vary with different types of wood?

A. You can choose a stain colour from our suppliers range, Unfortunately the colours shown are not a true representation of all types wood and are shown on a blank canvas (so to speak), Wood varys so much in colour that a darker canvas will bring darker results, even Pine can have hundreds of different slight variations,(green, orange, red etc)

Q. So how then am i suppose to choose a stain?

A. The best way is for you to look at our range and let us know what you select, When we arrive to carry out your project our fitters will do a stain approval test for you, Using your chosen choice and a few variations around that spectrum, We will sand a small area of your floor and apply different shades for your consideration.

Don't worry, we don't usually have any problems getting the shade our clients want.
