Grain Raising is an age old problem
in floor rennovation, Sure The first coat of seal will usually
cause the grain in the wood to raise and the floor will
feel rough to the touch and Patchy to the eye. At this point
we machine buff the whole area with a 120 carbon screen,
which in turn heats up the seal and sticks the grain back
down once cooled, which is instant.
In heinsight this method should
work everytime, But hey we're talking about Natural Wood
flooring and with all natural materials, not one is exactly
the same, and all are prone to act in different ways, How
would you react if water was thrown over you for the first
time in 100 years!
Which is why we aptly named this
section "Don't be Alarmed"
For those of you that have had
our teams round sanding and sealing your floors, Im sure
you'll agree this problem doesn't happen too often, But
on the Odd Occaison we get a call back, Because the finish
feels rough and looks patchy, Like there is seal missing,
This is our Old friend 'Grain Raise', But please don't be
alarmed, Please Don't get upset and phone us telling us
we've ruined your floors,
Relax,
Give us a call and we will be round to Buff the entire area
and Apply a fresh coat of seal.
I know this may inconvenience your plans, but im afraid
this is the only way of rectifying 'Grain Raise' which i'm
afraid is completely out of our control.
It is very rare to be called back
after this, but if there is still a problem, we can apply
further coats, the sealer
we use allows this.
